The Scientist will investigate how to harness environmental conditions to improve the characteristics of plants grown indoors, where conditions like temperature and humidity can be maintained with precision. Information generated from this research will be published and presented at controlled environment agriculture industry conferences, including events tailored to startup companies and prospective entrepreneurs.In this role, you will join a talented team of scientists and work cross-functionally to ensure success of long-range goals and strategies. The Scientist will lead experiment execution and data analysis and coordinate with academic collaborators working in food science and phytochemical analysis.You have:A PhD in Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Plant Physiology or a closely related discipline, or a MS and equivalent experienceA passion for plants and have spent the last 5-7 years in controlled environment agriculture, horticulture or plant science research (post-doctoral research counts as work experience)Experience with characterization of plants, including imaging, phenotyping, chemical analysis, and/or objective measurements of taste and textureA proven record in the timely completion of complex research projects and a portfolio of examples of your workAptitude with statistical analysis softwareDemonstrated knowledge and experience with operating controlled environment agriculture systemsA significant publication record and/or grant writing experience desiredExperience growing baby greens, micro greens, living lettuces and herbsProgramming experience highly desiredExperience working with engineers or software developers on prototyping equipment/tools
