Do it here.What you'll be doing... Verizon has a long and
demonstrated history of driving energy efficiency innovation in our
commercial building portfolio and has committed to adhering to
state and local emissions standards and achieving operational
carbon neutrality by 2035. In this role, you will be responsible
for a variety of tasks including achieving compliance to energy and
emissions regulations in New York City, Washington D.C. and Boston.
You will be responsible for identifying and quantifying building
retro-commissioning opportunities, identifying and quantifying
energy conservation measures (ECMs), overseeing engineering design
development and reviews, and developing & conducting Measurement
and Verification for ECMs.This position requires a dynamic
individual with strong technical abilities and a proven ability to
balance multiple concurrent projects.
Manage activities of external
Auditing firms performing energy audits and remediation efforts
across the portfolio.Develop short term and long term roadmaps of
Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and Retro-Commissioning
Measures (RCMs) required to achieve performance standards (i.e.,
emissions caps) in more than 100 buildings in Boston, NYC, and
Washington D.C.Conduct or supervise the audits and recommissioning
of 25 buildings in NYC and Philadelphia.Collect and analyze
utility, facility, operations, and other data needed to conduct
ASHRAE Level III audits and full building retrocommissioning
audits.Analyze blue prints to assess mechanical, electrical, and
control systems and determine facility operational
characteristics.Conduct detailed mechanical and control system
energy improvement analyses and complete calculations using custom
tools, spreadsheets and/or energy-modeling software.Identify,
recommend, and/or review proposed energy-efficient design solutions
and technology upgrades that are supported by accurate
descriptions, measured and logged energy data, savings
calculations, and cost estimates.Prepare energy and emissions
impact assessment of proposed ECMs and RCMs.Develop Measurement &
Verification plans and protocols, commissioning protocols, and
post-implementation Operations & Maintenance protocols.Coordinate
the integration of design engineering, project construction,
start-up/turnover, and subsequent Operations & Maintenance
procedures for energy projects.Assist with project development
(e.g., construction planning, price, schedule, environmental,
warranties, performance guarantees, risk mitigation plans).Oversee
the engineering analyses and technical support work of project
subcontractors.Where you'll be working...This hybrid role will have
a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned
office days as set by the manager.What we're looking for... You'll
need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more
years of work experience.Six or more years of relevant work
experience.Experience in Commercial Building Audits (e.g., SMACNA
commissioning manual, ASHRAE Guideline 0-2019: The Commissioning
Process and ASHRAE standard 202-2018: Commissioning Process for
Buildings and Systems, ASHRAE Guideline ASHRAE-Commercial Building
Audits-Second Edition D-90450 and ASHRAE-211-2018 Standard for
Commercial Building Audits D-86637).Experience inenergy efficiency
modeling and analysis.Willingness to travel up to 50%.A valid
driver's license.Even better if you have one or more of the
following:
Self-directed personality with a
commitment to excellence.CEM, CMVP or equivalent
certification.Excellent written and oral communication
skills.Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level on
multi-disciplinary teams.A general knowledge of the financial,
technical, and political aspects driving the energy
industries.Engineering, analytical, and technical writing skills,
including spreadsheet analyses.Ability to provide technical
leadership and project management to guide a team of energy
engineers to identify, develop and implement integrated energy
efficiency programs.A passion in the areas of energy efficiency,
alternative energy, and sustainability.Measurement and verification
skills, including installation of instrumentation for short-term
data logging of power and environmental parameters.Proficient
ability to apply the concepts of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and
fluid mechanics.Expert in building energy modeling
systems.Experience implementing energy conservation and performance
contracts.Knowledge of commercial building energy code and
emissions requirements New York City (Climate Mobilization Act),
Washington D.C. (Clean Energy 2.0 Act) and Boston (Building Energy
Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance 2.0).Ten or moreyears
ofexperience with building energy systems (e.g., HVAC, controls,
central utilities, etc.).Advanced degree in engineering or
certified/licensed Professional Engineer.Equal Employment
