- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Operations Supervisor -The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC), a publicly-owned wastewater treatment facility located in Newark, New Jersey, is currently seeking an Operations Supervisor. - Created in 1902, PVSC is the 5th largest facility of its kind in the United States, directly serving approximately 1.5 million residents in 48 municipalities located in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union Counties. -The 140-acre plant is designed to treat an average of 330 million gallons per day ("mgd") of wastewater with an annual average flow of approximately 241mgd. - -Position Summary:The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the operation and supervision of one or more processes pertaining to the treatment of wastewater, biosolids, and the collection system. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Must be able to prepare concise and accurate reports, provide conclusions, and make recommendations. Must be able to assign appropriate tasks, as well as train and supervise staff working with wastewater and the collection, treatment and disposal of biosolids.Knowledge of the various laws, rules and government regulations pertaining to wastewater and biosolids collection, treatment and disposal, as well as the principles and methods used in the treatment and disposal of wastewater and biosolids is required. - Must also have knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the collection and treatment of wastewater and/or biosolids. Experience:Minimum seven (7) years of experience in wastewater treatment or collection system maintenance and operation,including a minimum of one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. Education: High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma or equivalency certificate and satisfactory completion of both the Basic and Advanced Wastewater Treatment courses.Licenses: Valid New Jersey Driver's License, a NJ Treatment Plant S2 or NJ Collection System C2 license. NJDOT certified Traffic Control Coordinator license preferred for Line Operations Supervisors.
