Position Summary:
The Department of Data Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks candidates to fill a University Lecturer/Senior University Lecturer position. Candidates are expected to teach introductory data science and programming courses (like DS 301 or CS 100) and algorithms and data structures courses in support of our undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will also be involved in creating course content and materials with a focus on hands-on experiential and project-based learning. NJIT has recently expanded its graduate programs to Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from the financial district of Lower Manhattan in New York City, where it serves the many working professionals in that region. Instructional staff are expected to teach at this site as needed.

Essential Functions:
The successful candidate will be expected to: * Teach undergraduate and graduate data science, programming and algorithms and data structures courses * Create course content and materials.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have an MS degree in Data Science or Computer Science or a related computing area (a PhD degree is preferred).
Candidates should demonstrate an expert grasp of knowledge in data management, programming, and algorithms and data structures either through a record of teaching excellence, or through industrial experience. Knowledge in data/computer science pedagogy is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:
Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate effectively with students in person and online. The formal education and experience prerequisites may be waived at the university's discretion if the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.Bargaining Unit:
