Job Description:
The Electrophysiology Specialist performs adolescent and adult
diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology (EP) procedures
under the supervision of a qualified physician. The
Electrophysiology Specialist is a professional who performs/reviews
a baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to
diagnostic or interventional maneuvers and medications during
electrophysiology laboratory procedures, and provides patient care
and drug administration commonly used in the cardiac
electrophysiology laboratory, under the direction of a qualified
physician. The Electrophysiology Specialist acts as the first
assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology
procedures. In addition to assisting the EP physicians with the
most complex EP procedures, this position oversees the technical
operations required for the performance of routine diagnostics
through the advanced interventional electrophysiology procedures.
This position must be an expert who is competent in the use of EP
monitoring/stimulation systems, intracardiac echocardiography and
3D mapping systems. Demonstrates a high degree of understanding of
the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and all invasive EP
procedures. Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to
provide therapeutic care with the patient and family. Serves as a
role model and clinical resource for EP staff and other members of
the health care team.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a science
or related field required. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant
work experience performed in a dedicated Electrophysiology Lab
required. Must possess a high degree of understanding of the
interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and all invasive EP
procedures. Effective oral and written professional communication
skills required. Ability to use initiative and independent
judgment, and to work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills
with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families,
healthcare professionals and external vendors. Knowledge regarding
quality improvement and standards of care within practice area
required. Capable of demonstrating flexibility with demands of
external/internal customers placed on operating functions of the
department. Advanced computer skills and technical skills required
to operate EP specialty equipment, specifically 3D Mapping systems
for complex ablations. Capable of wearing lead aprons for extended
periods of time. Must possess RCES or RCIS certification, American
Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification. Additional related
experience in a dedicated Electrophysiology Lab may be substituted
