Job Description:

Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Clinician/Counselor. Reporting to the Clinical Director, this position provides direct clinical service and presents psychological perspectives in programs, training, and settings throughout the college community.This position is responsible for and not limited to the following. Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and workshops/outreach/consultation for students, faculty, and staff Provide consultation and facilitate support for various campus-based partners and work collaboratively with Counseling Center team to strengthen and grow services and programs. Provide administrative support and other duties as assigned Serve on unit and university committees as appointed and assigned Support pre-college, RUN Rising, and other students in need. Issues addressed in counseling may include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adjustment disorders, personality disorders Attend key events for the programs that include but are not limited to: new student orientation programs, attending monthly updates/mentor meetings with the identified cohorts; being a key member of the Dual Enrollment & RUN Rising CARE team efforts; etc. Interact with Dual Enrollment partners (Newark public schools, charter schools, Kearny public schools, etc.) if and when an issue may emerge to support the student enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program. Collaborate with the program leaders, provide some programming to support the mental health and wellness of the students enrolled and will function as a key member of the health and wellness team Minimum Education and Experience---Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.---Requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience in an administrative and/or supervisory function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.- OR ----Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in the discipline. A master's degree in a specialized discipline may be required, particularly in research, project management or managerial positions.---Requires a minimum of five years experience and/or increasing functional responsibility in a leadership/managerial role. With a master's degree requirement, a minimum of three years of related experience is acceptable.---Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication skills and computer literacy Must have experience in providing time-limited treatment, developing appropriate interventions, and working with diverse populations; must demonstrate excellent communication skills, writing skills, and computer literacy Proven success working collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team Knowledge of important regulations such as HIPPA and FERPA
