The company also operates one of the largest textbook wholesale distribution channels in the United States.Overview: The Accounts Payable Supervisor will provide direct hands-on support and supervision of a team responsible for processing invoices. The Supervisor along with their team will be identified as the subject matter expert in the accounts payable operations.
The Accounts Payable Supervisor will maintain strong relationships and work cross functionally with HOM Management, Barnes & Noble Bookstores and Vendors to identify and resolve issues through proactive communication and regular reporting. The Supervisor will be responsible for Concur T&E Expense Reporting. The Supervisor will be the first point of contact for the team when any issues may arise.
The position will also supervise and assist in the year end process for the accounts payable accruals and all other activities necessary to close the fiscal year. Run reporting to determine monthly accruals, while analyzing receiving and invoicing.
The Supervisor will maintain a strong customer focus and develop key relationships with all internal and external customers to meet the Accounts Payables needs of the system. This individual is responsible for developing a committed, motivated and professional staff. This position will assist in developing standards of performance, training and measuring results.Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the processing of expense invoices through the recently implemented invoice automation system (Chrome River) and become the subject matter expert on the use of system for home office departments and store users.
  • Supervise the processing of merchandise related transactions to include monitoring and controlling the systems for receiving and matching.
  • Lead the effort in Travel & Entertainment Expense reporting and reimbursement.
  • Responsible for expense payables weekly payment processing.
  • Monitor and provide weekly/monthly reporting for finance and management. Manage scheduled reports and create new reporting as requested. Analyze information and communicate results and opportunities.
  • Support the year-end process to include accruals, reporting and documentation.
  • Proactive support and/or leadership role on numerous special projects as requested from upper management.
  • Supervise staff to ensure company and department standards are adhered to.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.
  • Complies at all times with the Standards, policies and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics set out in the Employee Handbook.Qualifications:Education Level and Overall Knowledge Required for Position
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • 4+ years of related experience preferred
    • Extensive interaction with all employees at levels up to senior management and outside individuals and corporations
    • Substantial sensitivity and cooperation required; involves answering somewhat complicated or non-routine questions and discussions frequently involves problem solving and require diplomacy
    • Requires ability to adjust to different types of work and flexibility
      • Ability to understand and follow instructions
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access
      • Excellent communication skills
