Job Description Job Summary: The Chemical Operator---s primary
responsibility is to assure the Plant Manager---s production plan
and goals are met through efficient and safe manufacturing. The
Chemical Operator function is to run batch reactions, dryer
reactions, and repackaging. The Chemical Operator is responsible
for off-loading of raw materials, transferring of raw materials and
finished product. The transfer of these materials can be to storage
tanks, or finished packaging. The Chemical Operator has working
knowledge of pumps, valves, and all necessary equipment to complete
production goals and plans. Responsibilities: Role Specific
Responsibilities: Receives bulk raw materials following unloading
procedure and obtains samples from driver to take to QC for
approval before unloading Runs batch reactions/blends according to
batch sheet including charging raw materials from bulk tanks.
Samples and recognizes batch end-points and makes adjustments as
indicated by QC in-process test results Filters and discharges
reactors to receivers as directed, i.e. bulk storage or holding
tanks, or directly pack off into drums or totes. Operates various
dryers according to batch sheets Handles operator identified
preventive maintenance Handles first-line troubleshooting such as
equipment malfunctions, computer program issues, setting
adjustments; involving appropriate other experts as needed Operates
a forklift in order to move materials as desired Takes corrective
actions in the event of an upset Packs product into bags, drums, or
totes as needed Reviews all processes at shift end with next
shift---s operator Maintains and cleans all process areas Follows
all ISO: 9001:2015, ISO 22000, and cGMP standards Understands and
complies with all finished goods testing Understands and meets all
production rates and goals Assists with troubleshooting issues with
production equipment and processes Observes all company, local,
state, and federal safety and quality regulations Reports
accidents, safety violations, or other concerns Works with other
team members to complete the production process Sets goals and
objectives for continuous improvement Any and all other duties as
directed by supervision Compliance: Complies with company Health,
Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and arrangements
Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents
and near misses promptly Acts in a safe and responsible manner at
all times Problem Solving & Innovation: Takes responsibility and
ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of
continuous improvement of both self and the business Assists in the
training, mentoring and assessment of other team members Exercises
autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance
Qualifications/Desired Skills: Education: High school diploma or
equivalent required Experience Desired: Minimum of 1-5 years batch
making and operating experience Ability and willingness to work a
non-standard shift Demonstrated ability to read and follow SOPs and
fill out batch log sheets Previous experience operating a forklift
preferred Experience wearing required PPE including safety glasses,
hard hat, steel toe shoes, gloves, and a respirator Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities Required: Self-motivated and ability to work
within a fast paced environment Willingness to learn and understand
various manufacturing processes throughout the plant Strong
organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a
team environment Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes
repetitive, physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling
objects up to 30 pounds; 50 pounds occasionally While performing
the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use
hands and fingers, handle and feel as well as to reach with hands
and arms Ability to stand and sit as well as frequently walk,
stoop, bend and climb stairs and ladders Excellent written and
