Responsibilities Peraton Labs generates transformative applied research to fuel solutions for our customers unique challenges. We are a self-sustaining research center within Peraton that provides applied research and engineering to enable government agencies, utilities and commercial enterprises to fully exploit the future of communications, analytics and cyber security. We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in cyber security research and development for full-time positions in our Cyber Security research group. Candidates will work with teams to research, conceive, and develop prototypes, and should be adept at identifying successful approaches to complex problems. Our projects span several areas of interest, including (but not limited to):Full-spectrum cyber operations, including CND, CNE, CNA, and CNO.Program analysis, including program understanding, vulnerability identification, and remediationMalware analysis and reverse engineeringResilient networking in support of cyber mission goalsAutonomous agent developmentSoftware-defined networking for cyber defense and deceptionCryptographic techniques for assured computationSymbolic logic and theorem proving for automating network configurationApplication of formal methods for secure and resilient systemsApplication of mathematic, statistics, and linguistics to large data sets to uncover patterns, extract information and gain understandingArtificial intelligence (reasoning, probabilistic inference, machine learning Senior Research Scientists play leadership roles on teams that design, implement, and test research prototypes and software systems aimed at solving cutting-edge cyber security research problems in the above areas. Senior Research Scientists are expected to work independently in a collaborative technical environment and provide technical leadership, including mentoring junior staff members; creativity and initiative are a plus. Qualifications Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related scientific/engineering discipline.Ability and desire to quickly acquire knowledge of new subject matter areasExpertise in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, or similar languagesWorking knowledge of Linux, MacOS, Windows, and mobile operating systems, platforms and internalsWorking knowledge of modern computer networking technologiesWorking knowledge of modern development practices and toolsets (Git, subversion, CI/CD toolchains) Other Relevant Skills (not required, but any are a plus):Experience as a technical lead on software development projects or research teamsExperience as a Principal Investigator on DoD/IC research projectsExperience in business development, including technical marketing, idea generation, and authoring whitepapers and proposals for new work.Experience in one or more of the following areas:Program AnalysisComputer networking protocal design and/or analysisCompute and network emulation, containerization, and virtualizationReverse EngineeringReal-Time Operation Systems (RTOS)Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)Experience with one or more of the following classes of tools and frameworks:Binary Analysis Tools, such as GHIDRA, Hex-Rays IDA, Binary Ninja, Angr,Debugging and Sandboxing tools, such as Cuckoo sandbox, OllyDBG, WinDbgCNO toolsets, including Metasploit, Cobalt StrikeNetwork emulation frameworks including CORE, EMANE, MiniNetContainer and Orchestration solutions, including: Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, TerraformCloud services experience (AWS, Azure, OpenStack)Experience with DevOps and Agile development methodologiesExperience in the U.S. DoD/IC research communityCNO operational experience #LI-MS5 For Colorado Residents Colorado Salary Minimum: $100,048.00 Colorado Salary Maximum:$213,865.60 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
