Vice President, Head of Assumption Management

The VP, Head of Assumptions Management reports to the Head of US Business Strategy and Initiatives and is a key member of this leadership team. This leader will lead an approximate 40 person Assumption Management team and responsible for transformation, growth, and expansion of the Assumption Management team deliverables.

Requirements:

As a part of the US Business Strategy & Initiatives, the Assumption Management Team, is responsible for the centralization of all the assumptions to be used in valuation, pricing, in-force management, risk, ongoing monitoring, and experience studies. This assumption team will be responsible for the ongoing governance, and production of experience studies and will need to evolve and transform to develop, analyze and produce impactful exhibits and information to enable discussion on strategic business decisions to drive operational and economic value to our organization.

The incumbent must have strong analytical skills, the depth/breadth of knowledge to manage and resolve complex actuarial and financial issues, and the ability to prioritize and drive cross-functional initiatives. He/she must be able to explain actuarial concepts and results to non-technical audiences and build strong relationships with Business Partners and corporate functions (e.g., Corporate Actuarial Oversight, ERM, Finance, Investments, IT). He/she must also be able to motivate and develop the entire Assumption Management Team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead a team of ~40 professionals across our various locations. Support development, recruiting and talent management. Develop talent strategy and execute to strengthen talent for today and the future. Drive positive culture of accountability and behaviors to achieve vision and strategic priorities.

Engage with all stakeholders and set expectations with regards to workplans and execution. Develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to drive execution and delivery of faster, simpler, controlled yet flexible data/business solutions.

Drive innovation and use of new capabilities, enhanced production capabilities and improvement of analytics

Anticipate stakeholder needs and proactively develop and communicate analytics that explain key business drivers and the implications of reported results

Produce accurate, complete, and timely experience studies under appropriate controls and use efficient and consistent approaches and infrastructure

Qualifications:

Extensive industry knowledge and experience (10+years) with ideally at least 5 years of experience focusing on assumption/in-force management, transformation, and/or experience studies

Strong influential leadership, collaboration, communication (oral and written) and networking skills

Open minded, innovative, and strategic thinker with ability to work in a matrixed organization

Solid track record of driving business results and focus on execution

Strong project and process management skills, including ability to influence prioritization across the matrix organization and deployment of resources

Prior experience developing and/or leading assumption management strategies

Strong practical knowledge of several domestic product lines, including Retirement, Life, Annuities and/or Group/LTC

Position open to Prudential offices and remote/virtual

  • Note: Prudential is required by Colorado law to include the salary range for this role when hiring a Colorado resident.

Salary range specific to Colorado:$183,700 to $248,500 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
