About the Position: Security expert required with expert level knowledge of the Juniper high end security appliances (SRX) and management platforms (Junos SPACE/SD/JSA). Architecture level understanding of the packet flow is highly desirable. Must be able to configure, operate and troubleshoot security platforms. Responsibilities: This is a 40 hour per week position, on-site, at the customer location and may require additional work hours and on-call support for critical issues which will be compensated for with Comp time. Lead/assist with IPv4 to IPv6 design, planning, and certification support, ongoing integration of Juniper SPACE/SD/JSA, IPSec VPN/Tunnel Optimization Troubleshoot the network's design and architecture issues. Lead/assist with Security Plan Development & SIRT/Advisory Mitigation Analyze network and device configurations Provide network design leadership; assisting in identifying and building solutions Test product features and functionality, including JONOS code upgrade and planning support Provide deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications Provide informal workshops to transfer knowledge to engineering, maintenance (ME), operations, and other Verizon staff Apply industry best practices to the design, planning, and implementation of the network Apply extensive industry experience to optimize network performance and proactively analyze potential enhancements Evaluate technical specifications for interoperability Troubleshoot equipment, network problems, and to open/track JTAC cases through to problem resolution on pre/post production issues Provide periodic written summary/progress reports Test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly Host/conduct technology workshops, case status updates, develop workarounds and/or solutions for security issues Assist the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures. Hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried. Produce a written summary report of the status of equipment and network problems on a regular basis to the customer. Raise equipment Return to Manufacturer Authorizations (or Return Materials Authorization) (RMAs) and to track these through to problem resolution. Understand the customer's organizational structure and become familiar with the customer's network implementation and support processes and procedures. Skills and Experience: Experience in providing in-depth design and technical support of Network Security Products Experience in managing large technical account activity revolving around Network Security products from any vendor Formal product training on SRX Firewall products as well as some level of technical certification on security products is desired. Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of high-end firewalls and ideally Juniper networks Security products Detailed understanding and experience of Security Management Platform i.e. Junos Space / Security Director. Experience working on a large-scale Service Provider network a plus Detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks Candidate should have extensive experience with traffic generating tools like Ixia and Breaking Point to be able to test Juniper security products. Previous hardware or software testing experience a plus Strong Interpersonal skills and a team player Excellent oral and written skills required Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Knowledge of Python/Perl is desirable. Minimum Qualifications: 8-10 years of industry experience required with at least 4 years in the customer facing roles. At least 3 years of Juniper Security experience required. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Juniper Security certification like JNCIS-Security, JNCIP-Security or JNCIE-Security is desired.
