Position: Sr. Benefits SpecialistLocation: Newark NJ 07102(100% Remote)Duration: 06+ Months Contract (Possible Extension) Required Skill:Ensures compliance of Benefits programs, utilizing knowledge of Benefits legislation (COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, PPACA, ADA, other) and through keeping current on rules and regulations impacting Benefits programs. Assist with required disclosure and reporting such as Forms 5500, Summary Annual Reports, Summaries of Material Modification, Summary Plan Descriptions, COBRA and HIPAA Privacy and Security notices and ACA reporting. Collaborates with the Benefits Manager and assists with a variety of projects to include governance, and compliance. Projects may include benefits handbook updates, Section 125 document creation and developing HIPAA. Ensure the effective operation, delivery, and administration of Company Benefits programs in accordance with strategic objectives. Program Management and Administration Develops communications, manages service providers and consultants, and liaises with HRIS, Payroll, Legal, HR team and other areas to ensure excellent delivery. Uses extensive Benefits experience to develop and present ideas for improvement and is adept at measuring and analyzing Benefits data in order to improve effectiveness, build efficiencies, and proactively enhance the delivery of the Benefits function. Provides customer service support to internal and external customers. Support the Senior Benefits Manager in any rollout or implementation of new benefit programs or program features. Assist with enrollments, COBRA, PEMO, terminations, Life event changes, and life insurance claims. Coordinates with Benefits Analyst to help provide training and training materials to Employee Services and Benefits Center Staff.Bachelor's degree which emphasizes analytical skills or equivalent work experience Strong computer software skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS Five to seven years' benefits administration experience in electronic eligibility reporting environment and three to five years' Benefits Specialist experience Competencies: Solid understanding of benefits legislation, plan provisions, policies and procedures Strong mathematical and analytical skills Detail-oriented, good follow-through skills and good project management skills Critical thinking, customer focus, collaboration and accelerating change to generate continuous process improvement and drive strong performance results Communications: Regular contact with Employee Services, HRIS and vendor-partners as well as internal customers Strong oral and written communication skills Strong diplomacy skills and strong ability to influence others BONUS if the candidate has Workday and Emperion experience. Additional Job Description Research, Analysis and Reports Assist in making recommendations for new plan offerings, plan design changes and employee contribution rates. Draw conclusions based on data and present them clearly and logically in summary form. Research, analyze and respond to requests from Payroll Accounting and Finance Complete benefit surveys as directed. Assist with the development of metrics and dashboards to better monitor and manage program performance. Financial Monitoring and Reporting Reviews chargeback reports submitted by the Benefits Analyst to Finance for actives and inactive and identify opportunities to streamline and create efficiencies. Monitor cost trends on premium/fee payment reports prepared by Benefits Analyst and quarterly health care cost data provided by carriers and consultants.
