Description Lifeguard Job Type: Part-Time, Seasonal Pay Range: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour Expected Hours: 25 to 35 hours per week Schedule: Days, evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays Location: Larchmont Yacht Club, Larchmont, NY About Larchmont Yacht Club Founded in 1880, Larchmont Yacht Club is one of the most respected and historic yacht clubs in the country. Located just 16 miles from New York City on an 11-acre waterfront campus, the Club offers an exceptional recreational environment that includes sailing, swimming, tennis, paddle sports, and diving. Our aquatics and lifeguard program is a cornerstone of the summer experience at LYC. The pool complex serves families, competitive youth programs, and seasonal events, all supported by a highly trained, professional lifeguard team. Position Summary Larchmont Yacht Club is seeking motivated, safety-focused Lifeguards to join our seasonal aquatics team. Lifeguards play a critical role in protecting the safety and well-being of members and guests while contributing to a positive and enjoyable pool environment. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in their professionalism, enjoy working outdoors, and want to be part of a strong, team-oriented lifeguard program at a premier waterfront club. Key Responsibilities Provide active and attentive supervision of all swimmers and pool areas Enforce pool rules and safety standards consistently and respectfully Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations Administer CPR, AED, and first aid in accordance with certification standards Assist with daily pool operations including opening, closing, cleaning, skimming, vacuuming, and water quality checks Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free pool deck and surrounding areas Inspect, restock, and maintain safety and first aid equipment Communicate safety concerns or maintenance issues promptly to the Pool Director or Head Guard Attend required staff meetings, in-service trainings, and safety drills Represent Larchmont Yacht Club professionally through appearance, behavior, and member interactions Support pool leadership and Club operations with additional duties as assigned Qualifications Qualifications High school coursework required Strong swimming ability, including lap swimming and diving to pool depth Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required Certification must include First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED Previous lifeguarding experience preferred but not required for strong candidates Core Skills and Attributes Excellent observation skills and attention to detail Ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive in high-pressure situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented work style Commitment to safety, customer service, and professional conduct Understanding of pool safety practices and risk prevention Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and move continuously throughout a shift Ability to perform rescues and lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds Comfortable working outdoors in heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions Tolerance for exposure to chlorine, pool chemicals, and cleaning agents Why Work at Larchmont Yacht Club Competitive hourly pay Consistent scheduling with meaningful hours A strong, well-managed lifeguard program with professional leadership A supportive team environment at a premier waterfront club Opportunities to build leadership, safety, and customer service skills A fun, energetic summer workplace with lasting memories Join our lifeguard team and be part of a tradition of excellence, teamwork, and safety on the water.
