JOB TITLE: Assistant Buyer

REPORTS TO: Buyer

JOB SUMMARY:

Working under general supervision of the Buyer, the Assistant Buyer is responsible for managing a group of specific classifications in order to achieve sales and profitability goals. The Assistant Buyer supports the assigned merchandise area with the daily operational tasks, office duties, and field/vendor communications for the area of responsibility. This role will manage E-planner communication to the stores, product set-ups and maintenance, maintain assortment plans, planograms and updates, marketing requests, and vendor meeting preparation. This role will assist in the analysis of merchandise programs, SKU performance and initiate marketing requests. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring data integrity within the in addition to researching solutions to issues that may prevent the timely and accurate uploading of data.

This position will work remotely temporarily due to Covid-19.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Manages vendor compliance for all vendors in area of responsibility (EDI, CORE - internal retail system)
* Assist Buyer with maintenance of Product Information Management (PIM) spreadsheets
* Research and resolve problematic invoices with stores, vendors and home office team
* Support ticket questions that come in thru stores via MIO (Merchandise Information Office) team
* Coordinate and execute price and cost changes for team
* Communicate with stores and vendors on a daily basis to resolve merchandising and purchasing issues, and product questions
* Assist Buyer in the preparation and analysis of merchandise reports, milestone meetings, and presentations
* Collaborate with Allocation Analyst on ordering needs, target stores for assortments, special requests
* Assist Buyer in development of the merchandise programs and planograms, both visually & operational and facilitate communication programs to stores
* Coordinate vendor details for key programs, NIEC (new item end cap), laptop program, trend table, fashion assortments
* Prepares line reviews and style outs for Buyer
* Gatekeeper of all store requests for new items, additions and special requests
* Work with web coordinator to receive web images, descriptions, content for websites
* Additional responsibilities as required

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent retail experience
* 2-4 years of relevant experience
* Strong communication skills; ability to collaborate and communicate with internal and external teams
* Positive attitude and self-motivated; Strong Team player
* Analytical and problem-solving skills; Understanding of retail math
* Ability to multitask, prioritize, and keep organized in a fast paced environment
* Office computer skills: able to learn company systems and tools and apply them effectively
* Experience with MS Office Suite required: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat (preferred)
