Responsibilities include :
Provide care for pediatric hematology and oncology patients and
their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings at
Children s Hospital of New Jersey who are actively undergoing
treatment.
Provide care to patients who have completed treatment for their
illness whether it is chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or bone
marrow transplantation.
Work with medical and psycho-social team to help patients and their
families at the time of new cancer diagnosis, coping with
"difficult to treat" cancer and blood disorders, helping families
during bereavement and grief and other related conditions.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Psy.D. From an APA-accredited program and preferably have
completed an APA-accredited internship.
Graduate, research and internship training experience with children
and families affected by childhood cancer and blood disorders, and
Post-doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology highly valued.
Candidates must have a background in pediatric psychology and the
study of the impact of childhood physical illness on children and
families.
Experience working with quality-of-life and caregiver issues as
related to medical condition, bereavement, preferably including
work with socio-economically and/or ethnically diverse
populations.
Training and experience in a broad range of psychological tests and
assessments relevant to pediatric oncology and chronic illness
(including those that assess ADHD/ADD and LD.); training and
experience in assessment/testing report writing.
Bilingual competency in Spanish is also preferred.
