Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.Job DescriptionPURPOSE OF POSITIONTo ensure that there is administrative leadership coverage during off-tour operations to monitor and support quality and efficient patient care.SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting rounds of the hospital, noting and documenting findings.
  • Serving as the administrative authority for the entire institution during off-tours, and performing supportive activities for administrative/operational matters.
  • Recording reportable activities and incidents occurring during the tour in the computer-generated AOD report.
  • Review documentation and ensure compliance with appropriate guidelines when notified of patient transfers.
  • Responding to, addressing, and documenting patient complaints on patient complaint form.
  • Facilitating access to a deceased patient when requested to do so, and performing administrative functions necessary to release the remains to the funeral home for proper burial.
  • Reporting elopements to Hospital Police for follow-up.
  • Documenting occurrences such as employee or patient injuries on 'Report of Occurrence' forms.
  • Approving and ensuring telegrams are sent to patients at the physician's request.
  • Responding to Codes and emergency announcements.
  • Requesting Diversion for the hospital when applicable.
  • Consulting the AOD reference manual, and hospital-wide administrative policy manual when confronted with uncertain or unclear situations.
  • Contact the Administrator on Call (AOC) when confronted with matters that cannot be resolved.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements including EMTALA, JCAHO, NYS, HHC Board of Directors, etc.
  • Function as the Incident Commander during disaster events until Incident Commander and staff arrive.
  • Facilitating the approval and signing of ambulance and Ambulette requests, as well as Livery Voucher Forms.
  • Prepare and submit assigned reports when applicable and perform any other function that may be assigned within the scope of the AOD role.Minimum Qualifications
  • A Masters degree in Arts or Science with a specialization in hospital administration, health care administration, administrative medicine or in public health when conferred for a program in hospital administration, from an approved college or university; or a Baccalaureate degree; and,
  • One (1) year of administrative experience and background; or,
  • An equivalent combination of training, education and experience in related fields and educational disciplines; and,
