Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is seeking an experienced
Middle School - Director of Curriculum & Instruction (Humanities)
for the 2023-24 school year.
STAFF AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Middle School - Director of Curriculum & Instruction
(Humanities)will report to the Campus Director/ Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to the Campus Director (building principal), the
Middle School DCI is a campus-based role, primarily responsible for
observing teachers and conducting feedback/coaching sessions on a
weekly basis for the purpose of providing constructive feedback and
recommendations.
- Review curriculum and assessments to ensure common core
alignment of curriculum and rigorous content standards that drive
student growth and promote college readiness.
- Foster a DDI culture among the instructional team, in which
data is used to identify trends in assessment results, analyze
student growth, including content mastery and skill gaps, and drive
the continuation, modification, or addition of strategies to move
students to higher levels of achievement.
- Facilitate small and large group discussions between and among
the leadership team, teachers, and tutors on issues related to
student learning.
- Collaborate with members of the instructional team and school
leadership to conduct school-wide instructional needs
assessments
- In conjunction with leadership team, develop specific,
measurable goals for the instructional team, and identify specific
skills, strategies, and programmatic activities to support or
extend school-wide learning.
- In conjunction with leadership team, coordinate grade level or
department meetings and plan professional development sessions for
the purpose of providing targeted support to teachers, teaching
assistants, and Tutor Corps members.
- Work with general and special education teachers, and RTI
coordinator to develop student interventions and modifications
based on data from SRI, SMI, ANet, and other data sources.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching and driving student
growth in an urban school setting.
- Standard teaching certification and administrative certificate
(supervisor, principal, or administrator endorsement) issued by the
NJ Department of Education or out-of-state education department
needed.
- Experience coaching teachers as a grade level or department
chair strongly preferred.
- Belief that all students have what it takes to be
successful.
- Relentless work ethic.
- Demonstrated mastery of content knowledge.
- Curriculum development experience strongly preferred.
- Leadership experience in a high performing, No Excuses school
