Summary
The Senior Director, Bioinformatics will build and lead a team of bioinformatics professionals to analyze large scale datasets in support of translational medicine goals to validate pharmacodynamics effects, confirm mechanism of action, and enable patient selection and enrichment strategies for drug programs across multiple indications. The successful candidate will support the Translational Leads and the broader Precision Medicine Committee to set goals and enumerate key methodologies and technologies that will generate data analysis results as well as testable biological hypotheses that drive clinical development decision-making. The primary datasets include various -omic-scale data generated from analysis of clinical trials of our oncology drug pipeline and other observational cohorts including RNA-Seq, Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing, high throughput proteomics, and multiplex flow cytometry. The leader will align closely with the heads of Translational Science globally, the Global Precision Medicine Committee, Informatic Technology teams globally, as well as working with bioinformatics leaders in Japan. Other responsibilities will include but not be limited to identifying and interacting with key external experts and monitoring progress toward goals of external research programs in bioinformatics. The leader will collaborate with Informatic Technology leaders globally to define and mature the system landscape and service delivery model. Lastly, the leader will be responsible for helping to construct analytical plan documents as part of an overall translational plan.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of bioinformatics professionals and ensure expert support is provided to further the translational goals for drug programs across the pipeline.
  • Evaluate novel methods and technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence algorithms) to enable the large-scale analysis of big datasets derived from clinical trial bio-samples.
  • Oversee external research efforts and outreach to academic professionals around the globe; identify, integrate and mine large-scale external data sets to further support internal assets
  • Ensure construction of bioinformatics platform as part of an overall translational plan; align with translational, clinical and Informatics technology leaders across the entire Daiichi Sankyo group to ensure the correct level of technical. resources are in place to support the overall business goals.
  • Construct and co-lead Informatics Advisory Panels at certain times. Form and lead a cross-functional bioinformatics global working group. Present as needed at internal and external meetings. The role will be key to ensure that as a collective the cross informatics group of people across various DS teams are defining the overall strategy in line with the business goals and objectives.

    • PhD required Experience Qualifications
      • 10 or More Years Experience in bioinformatics required and
      • Experience in oncology drug development at a biopharmaceutical company preferred. preferred
