Job Description:
Rutgers University - Newark (RU-N), an urban public research
university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a
city of promise is seeking an IT Project Manager. Reporting to the
Senior Director, this position will plan, execute, and finalize IT
projects according to deadlines and within budget.
This position will be responsible for and not limited to the
following.
- Acquire resources for a cross-functional team and coordinate
the efforts of team members, stakeholders, and third-party
consultants to deliver projects according to the plan
- Assist in defining the project's objectives, oversee quality
control, and effectively communicate throughout the project life
cycle
- Act as liaison between the Office of Technology & Instructional
Services ( OTIS ), RBS administrative and academic units, and
external partners to maintain regular contact with the stakeholders
to address business issues, evaluate technical solutions, recommend
appropriate action, and often work across several functional and
technical areas to deliver integrated solutions based on the
project management lifecycle aligned with PMI best practices and
the established OTIS project portfolio framework
- Plan, coordinate and track technology project initiatives and
lead technical solution implementations to provide customer
engagement
- Ensure cohesiveness among all stakeholders in technical
solution design and implementation, and overall project delivery
for infrastructure upgrades, renovations and new construction
across the NB, Newark and off-campus sites
- Serve as primary client liaison and provides the "bridge"
between client needs and technical solutions that support those
needs
- Ensures that projects stay within budget guidelines and that
changes are appropriately reported according to project management
principles
- Apply best practices in project management and system
implementation in order to deliver value-added solutions in a
cost-effective manner
- Work with other OTIS personnel in procurement workflows to
ensure smooth passages of purchasing activities, and perform budget
activities to assist the Senior Director on end of year budget
reconciliations and forecasts
- Travel amongst regional offices may be required Minimum
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (or equivalent experience) in information
technology, technical project management, or a related field of
study and two years of related systems administration experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of 5 years IT project management and IT solution
implementation
- Experiential knowledge and achievement in information
technologies and their application
- Experiential knowledge and achievement in software systems
- Experiential knowledge and achievement in IT project management
methods and procedures
