To learn more, visit www.kippnj.org.Job DescriptionHere's what you need to know:The MDE&C is a new role at KIPP New Jersey which we created to support the merging of the Newark and Camden regions. The MDE&C will lead a team of student recruitment, enrollment and compliance staff to ensure we are hitting our enrollment goals to serve students and families and maintaining compliance across all areas so that we can continue to serve students and families for years to come.Here's What You'll Be DoingBuilding the new enrollment and compliance function and teamSpecifically, The MDE&C WillKIPP New Jersey is merging its two New Jersey regions - Newark and Camden - and as a result the student recruitment, enrollment and compliance functions in each city must be restructured and streamlined. The MDE&C will lead this effort with support from the MD.* Document the work across the two cities, identifying duplication and or/gaps* Assess the current team's skills and reassign responsibilities as necessary* Create the new team structure and clearly delineate roles and responsibilities across the team to maximize efficiency and optimize teammates' strengths* Determine the timeline for merging the functions and roll-out of new team structure* Hire new team members as necessaryLeading the student recruitment, enrollment and compliance teamAs The Team Leader, The MDE&C WillWe anticipate the MDE&C will lead a team of five people - three dedicated to student recruitment and enrollment and two dedicated to compliance.* Set the vision for the team's work on student recruitment, enrollment and compliance* Lead the team in setting goals for student recruitment, enrollment and compliance* Set and oversee data driven goals for regional enrollment managers * Manage, support, train and coach the student recruitment, enrollment and compliance teammates* Lead the team in meeting goals for student recruitment, enrollment and compliance, ensuring every seat is filled and we remain compliant under federal, state, and local laws* Provide professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and nurture professional growth of the team* Ensure required staff actively participate in required trainings state trainingsCreating and building student recruitment, enrollment and compliance systems and structure to efficiently drive the workSpecifically, The MD&C WillThe MDE&C will be charged with streamlining the separate systems and structures that are currently used in Newark and Camden to support our student recruitment, enrollment and compliance functions.* Document an initial and complete an annual review of enrollment and compliance systems/practices to make changes as needed* Make recommendations for new systems and structures that need to be developed and implemented* Lead the team in creating new systems and structures that need to be implemented, and coordinate with KIPP Team and Family tech and data teammates as necessary on technical systems improvement projects* Own the deployment of wide-scale CRM system to support both cities in leading applicants through the enrollment funnel* Oversee and develop systems and policies as necessary to streamline and codify student recruitment and enrollment efforts* Facilitate communication with school leadership teams and school-based ops teams and build structures to ensure both student recruitment, enrollment and compliance teammates and school based ops teams can do their best work* Set standards for all student recruitment, enrollment and compliance functions* Formalize key systems and structures to ensure that roles are clear across the various groups who participate in these efforts, communication is effective, and data is easily shared and actionable * Lead the team in creating a student recruitment and enrollment playbook and compliance calendarEffectively executing the workSpecifically, The MDE&C WillWhile the preponderance of direct contribution work will be performed by the MDE&C's team, the MDE&C will be accountable for effective execution across the array of work streams.* Ensure that region as a whole and each school is fully enrolled (meeting overall, F/R lunch, SPED, and ELL targets) by October 15th and stays fully enrolled throughout the year* In conjunction with MD and school and ops leaders, set enrollment targets for each school and grade level* Ensure that every enrollment milestone is executed on time and with fidelity* In conjunction with Senior Director of Marketing and MD, design and lead implementation of student recruitment strategy in Newark and Camden* Participate in city-wide enrollment policy/governance councils to influence the structure and rules of the enrollment process* Ensure the network meets state compliance deadlines related to enrollment* Provide relevant stakeholders with reports to guide regional decision making as it relates to enrollment* Lead communication with school based stakeholders on enrollment matters affecting schools (e.g. placement strategy, school transition data) * Lead efforts to meet middle school and high school transition goals including developing strategy, materials, and communication efforts* Ensure compliance with local open government laws with input from KIPP Team and Family compliance team* Ensure region is in compliance with all state and local laws under its charter or other organizing structure* Lead efforts to meet local and state submission requirements (SOAs, MOUs, county submissions)* Lead efforts on review of all Harassment, Intimidation, & Bullying reports; work with KIPP Team and Family compliance team on coordination and administration of any disciplinary hearings * Lead efforts to ensure compliance with federal grants and other restricted grant work* Lead team in successful submission of student and staff data including NJSMART, SSDS Monitoring and auditing, SSDS & HIB campus systems, School Performance Report Card, Student register summary* Ensure compliance with state testing requirements including managing all roster submissions and state assessment systems such as PAN, ACCESS and DLM while coordinating with SpEd, Ops and Academic teams* Ensure compliance with all aspects of nutrition program for both legal school operating entities (TEAM Academy Charter School and KIPP Cooper Norcross) * Lead process and ensure compliance with all public procurement laws, including coordinating RFPs and other public bidding* Negotiate regional contracts as required and potential partnerships with external parties* Lead team in addressing any state audit findings or corrective action plans * Lead team in complying with state reporting, meal application approval, and other aspects of nutrition program management * In conjunction with Managing Directors of School Operations, ensure facilities compliance across school buildings* Ensure compliance with SPED and ELL programs* In conjunction with MDSOs and other stakeholders, ensure compliance with state certification requirements* Ensure compliance with local district enrollment requirements* Ensure campuses are complying with all laws and policies* Partner with KIPP Team and Family compliance team to plan grant applications, problem solve grant challenges, monitor grant progress, compile and file reimbursement requests Contributing to the overall success of the new New Jersey regionSpecifically The MDE&C WillThe MDE&C will be a senior leader for the region and will be asked to support various regional efforts to ensure the success of the newly merged region.* Serve as a member of the regional leadership team (which includes MDSOs and Head of Schools) as well as the regional operations leadership team led by the MD* Support CMO (KIPP Team and Family) and regional departments in defining and implementing regional level work streams in various areas that overlap with the student recruitment, enrollment and compliance functions.* Work closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications on the student recruitment strategy and implementation* Work closely with the KIPP Team and Family compliance team on State of New Jersey compliance submissions and compliance policy creation * Work closely with the KIPP Team and Family Data and Tech teams on technical systems vetting and implementations* Work closely with the KIPP Team and Family Data team on transitioning state compliance data submission responsibility to compliance teammates* Work closely with the Regional Director of Operations on setting up new systems and structures for the new region, on contracts management and compliance, and board compliance as necessaryQualificationsMust Haves* Experience in a school-based or CMO operations role* A passion for the mission, vision, and values of KIPP New Jersey* A history of building relationships and driving results* 5 to 10 years of work experience, preferably in business or operations management* Experience managing, coaching, and developing others to achieve goals* Strong interpersonal and communication skills* A determined problem-solver who works best in a goal-oriented, timeline-driven environment with the ability to create and innovate;
