Position Summary:
The Executive Director (ED) for Global Initiatives is responsible for managing and directing the activities in the Office of Global Initiatives including but not limited to: orientation, immigration processing and advisement, study abroad programs, and cultural programming. In addition, the ED will spearhead institutional international initiatives and develop a pathway program. The ED will serve as a liaison to all colleges that interact with international students. The ED is also responsible for managing all staff members in the Office of Global Initiatives.


Essential Functions:
Immigration services 1. Responsible for all F-1 and J-1 students' and visitors' SEVIS record maintenance; act as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO)2. Oversee the review and process of all immigration paperwork and applications for international scholars and employees, working closely with other units, including the Department of Human Resources, on campus to ensure policies are consistent and in compliance, and that data is entered in appropriate systems3. Oversee and manage all communications between the university and external immigration law firms to support the application and processing of J1 exchange visitor requests, H1B petitions, permanent residency applications, and other visa applications, as needed 4. Develop and adjust policies to ensure that the university remains in compliance with federal regulations at all times 5. Ensure all processes and policies implemented by the office are in accordance with federal guidelines and consistently applied 6. Serve as contact and liaison for external agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. State Department, Student and Exchange Visitor Program, U.S. consulates and embassies abroad, foreign embassies and consulates in the U.S., and the Institute of International Education 7. Offer workshops throughout the year to keep students updated with changes in policies and immigration requirements Strategic Internationalization Plan 8. Create and implement an international strategic plan to assist the university with its internationalization efforts 9. Serve as the point of contact for on-campus visits from international delegations 10. In conjunction with departments, assist with the development of curricular opportunities for study and internships abroad 11. Identify and spearhead the development of a network of institutions that could serve as a 'hub' for student and faculty exchange
12. Foster more on- and off-campus opportunities for cross-cultural integration among international and domestic students Programming 13. Develop a robust cultural program plan to assist with international student transition to the university and U.S. o Sponsor and support programming for intercultural exchange with events on- and off-campus14. Facilitate the creation of an international student club to foster more engagement among international and American students; serve as the advisor or co-advisor for the club 15. Work with other offices on campus (such as Women's Center, CCAPS, Res Life, etc.) to offer programs targeted to international students, such as cultural shock, mental health issues, and living abroad Study Abroad 16. Support all aspects of the study abroad program at the university 17. Develop and continuously review/improve a pre-departure orientation to prepare study abroad students for their program overseas 18. Develop university-wide policies that are consistent with best practices in the field (e.g., travel policy, risk management, etc.) 19. Identify faculty and academic advisors who are supportive of study abroad initiatives and leverage their interest to promote study abroad 20. Work closely with faculty and academic departments to develop faculty-led study abroad programs 21. Identify, develop, and implement new international partnerships; maintain existing partnerships Pathway Program
Develop and maintain the pathway program: 1. Develop and maintain a new source of revenue for the university 2. Work with students to ensure satisfaction with the program and goal attainment 3. Serve as the university point of contact for all pathway-related issues 4. Ensure federal compliance for all pathway students' immigration records and SEVIS reporting o Manage the budget for the program and negotiate rates 5. Select and hire pathway instructors to teach courses and develop evaluation mechanisms to ensure consistency in teaching methodology 6. Work with the registrar to ensure space availability and avoid scheduling conflicts 7. Work with the bursar to ensure timeliness of payments 8. Work with the retention officer to ensure retention when transitioning to college 9. Work with academic advisors to ensure full-course load schedules and avoid scheduling conflicts Additional Functions:
--- Manage and supervise the Office of Global Initiatives staff and student ambassadors --- Develop and maintain all print and electronic communications and website --- Participate in Open Houses to support recruitment efforts of the Office of Admissions --- Evaluate the technological infrastructure and business processes of the office; make recommendations for technology upgrade when needed --- Coordinate technical training of the OGI staff to streamline and improve the efficiency of operations Essential Characteristics:

Prerequisite Qualifications:
--- A minimum of 8 years of management experience in a higher education setting --- Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to F-1 and J-1 visas--- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident to serve as PDSO and RO --- Must have a master's degree in international education or related field --- Demonstrated knowledge of ISSM, SEVIS, and Banner.

Preferred Qualifications:
