Job Description:
Swim Instructor & Aquatics Supervisor Co-Op Summer Enrichment is
a summer program for low income children that emphasizes STEM
enrichment alongside camp programming that infuses the joy of
summer into all that we do. Are you looking for a fun summer job?

that emphasizes STEM learning, mentoring connections, and summer
fun! Our Swim Instructor & Aquatics Supervisor is a critical team
member serving a population of campers with limited swim
experience. The majority of campers can not swim at all. As a
member of our leadership team, your work responsibilities include
but are not limited to the following: What you'll be doing You’re
joining a team in a fast paced summer camp environment. Most of
what you will be responsible for is listed below but roles and
discrete tasks can change. At Co-Op you will do much of these
tasks: Facilitate play based learning experiences that help
children learn critical swimming skills based on water swim
instruction principles Assess students during the initial week of
camp Organize and differentiate swim groups using initial
assessment indicators Place campers in correct swim environment
based upon swimming ability Ensure the safety of all students
during swim instruction Coordinate with the Co-Op Director to keep
the swim program schedule running on time and effectively for
counselors, staff and children alike Organize and manage counselors
to facilitate safety for children and to promote maximum swim time
for all children Organize and maintain all pool materials and
equipment Supervise lifeguards and insure that they conduct all of
their duties including but not limited to required buddy checks
maintaining all safety standards Provide director with weekly
reports of the swim program with suggestions for improvements to
maximize the swim experience for all children Provide director with
a final report of the swim program to be part of the overall Co-Op
Quality Assessment review Participate fully in orientation
experiences and weekly staff meetings What you bring First and
foremost, we are looking for someone who is warm, friendly and

Also significant is that you have a desire to serve others and
learn how STEM education and summer learning can create positive
outcomes for children. Lastly, we would need you to be ready to
take on a full time summer job for all six weeks and do your best
in a supportive and professional environment. Requirements:
Lifeguard certification CPR Certification Progressive Swim
Instructor / Water Swim Instructor certification Must have previous
lifeguard and/or swim instructor experience Must be at least 18
years old Besides that you might: Have past experience working with
children or helping others Seek a job where you can make a
difference in the lives of kids Are ready to meet and work with
other local teens, educators and nonprofit leaders from diverse
backgrounds Want to know what Color Wars is and be already planning
to win the annual trophy Are Bilingual (Spanish/English) What we

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday (weekly
staff Meeting) *all program start and end times/dates subject to
change until program design is complete by June 1st SALARY Base
Salary - $7,700 Base Salary paid bi-monthly in July and August (3
payments total)
