Position Summary:
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology seeks applications for an adjunct instructor to teach introductory courses in engineering ethics. Among the issues explored are the ethical responsibilities of engineers, the validation of knowledge and expert claims, the politics of engineered systems, the role of technological determinism vs technological autonomy, and the ethical dimensions of technological innovation.

Essential Functions:
Under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences the adjunct instructor will teach one or two courses per semester.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a Ph.D. or other advanced academic degree in philosophy, applied ethics, science and technology studies, engineering, industrial design or a closely related field.
- Applications are welcome from candidates with professional expertise in engineering practice.
- Key criteria for selection will include experience teaching university-level courses in engineering ethics or applied ethics.
- Applicants should be prepared to teach on a face-to-face basis.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
