Executive Director, Strategy - Regeneron Genetics Center

Job Description:

The Executive Director, RGC Strategy will play a key role in identifying and/or addressing strategic business questions of high importance, collaborating with functions across RGC and Regeneron to drive analysis and assessment of strategic projects and developing actionable business and market insights for presentation to senior management. This person will take a leadership role in developing business cases by partnering with other functions (e.g. R&D, Commercial, Legal, REGN Business Development) and synthesizing cross-functional input and information from other internal and external sources. This person will also be responsible for identifying and proposing approaches RGC should take to addressing new opportunities and challenges facing our business. The Executive Director will have regular interactions and/or collaborate with the SVP RGC and senior management, senior scientific project teams/committees, internal business/finance/operations/human resources and communications personnel, etc. In addition, the individual will also be responsible for managing third party advisors and vendors associated with market analysis, forecasting and strategic partnerships. The incumbent will be responsible for development of and briefing and/or presenting presentations relating to business assessment, planning and forecasting. A typical day in this role might include: Conduct and oversee analyses to inform business decisions impacting our strategies for target discovery, drug development, consumer applications, commercialization, capital allocation, and other areas Partner with functions across the RGC/REGN to gather information and data (internal and external) about our business to inform the future strategy of the RGC Establish relationships with leaders across the RGC to understand needs and problems aligned with new and/or evolving business opportunities Identify and define opportunities to bring clarity, consistency, and efficiency to decision-making processes specifically related to new business opportunities Model future scenarios at a product and business level to inform business decisions Assess market opportunities and potential return for key R&D investment decisions Present conclusions and recommendations of analyses to senior leadership Serve as a contributing member of the RGC business team in the planning, strategic design and execution of business objectives This individual will work in collaboration with partner functions across REGN including finance/accounting, purchasing, compliance, facilities, human resources and other G&A functions supporting the business planning of the RGC. This role might be for you if: Facilitate and manage RGCs key business consulting vendor relationships including the negotiation of new vendor relationships when needed, operational pre-planning, monitoring and establishing performance metrics or standards for business development. Graduate degree (MBA, MD, or PhD) and 5 years of work experience in consulting, equity research, or investment banking, or in a business strategy role within the biopharmaceutical industry. Alternatively, those without a graduate degree and 10 years of work experience as described will be considered. Strong analytical and communication skills as well as experience critiquing scientific and clinical information within the context of new business development and enterprise development are critical to be successful in this role. Broad understanding of research operations, management, finance, business development, market analsysis and forecasting is critical. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in developing and presenting business analysis/proposals needed to help drive strategic decision making Understanding of financial implications and costing analysis to expand current business platforms, while understanding requirements to launch new enterprise opportunities. Comfortable developing and interpreting long term financial models as well as constructing back of envelope analyses to help support work.
