Accountant, Financial Services Accounting

What you will do:

Assist in preparation agencies' monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, President's Report exhibits and schedules for IFRS reporting.
Record and Prepare Accounting for Agency Financial Statements
Prepare and distribute Premium and Claim Analytics
Prepare and analyze the Due to (from) Affiliates, agency corporate reporting, program premium and TPA accounting -
Prepare appropriate agency consolidating and inter-company eliminations.
Prepare appropriate corporate consolidating and inter-company adjustments and eliminations.
Prepare some deliverables for the Presidents Report, CFO certification and related schedules to Fairfax are completed by targeted deadlines.
Manage PWC and internal audit requests and inquiries
Prepare relevant analyses related to the underwriting results as requested.
Prepare deliverables related to the Audit Committee Binder and related schedules are completed.
Update any changes in the workflow to comply with Financial Services Sox Compliance and internal audit requirements
Prepare various general ledger reconciliations as needed

What you will bring to C:

Possess knowledge of IFRS/GAAP
Stay current with IFRS rules and regulations and determine impact on the financial statements
Strong analytical and insurance accounting skills
Identify and evaluate opportunities for process improvement
Serve as a technical resource, provide feedback, training, and guidance to department members
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Advanced Degree or CPA preferred
A minimum of 1-2 years of financial/analytical experience including a strong understanding of accounting ( Statutory/Reinsurance reporting knowledge a plus)
Demonstrated leadership and management skills
Prior experience working for an insurance company
Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate complex financial information in writing and verbally
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to meet deadlines while producing quality results
Intermediate experience with Excel, Word and Outlook (familiarity with SQL & Access a plus)
Intermediate knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger accounting (Sungard EAS)
Familiarity with source systems and report writers such as Sapiens, EAS, Business Objects and T
